As Executive Director of Migrant Health Center, Western Region, Inc. (MHC, Inc.) it is a great pleasure for me to be part of this interesting and innovative Corporation and to witness the positive evolution that we have undergone throughout the years. I am grateful to our Governing Board and Staff Members, who have all adopted this Institution as their own and are committed to achieving each of our goals and objectives, which are centered on our patients and their health care, as well as their social and economic needs. Our main objective is to identify and serve those in need of healthcare interventions and those who are in some way deprived of these services.
Being a certified “Patient Centered Medical Home” (PCMH) organization, all of our services are included under the same roof, focusing on the patients’ needs. I am also extremely proud of the diversity of our Special Projects and the men and women who are committed to providing high-quality services with integrity and free from the discriminations that society commonly shows the marginalized and stigmatized populations we so gladly serve. These programs include: HIV and Hepatitis C prevention and treatment, substance abuse prevention and treatment, mental health, homeless health services, needle exchange, specialized services for the LGBTTQI communities, and distribution of prevention related materials through vending machines. Through these programs, we are able to help individuals living with these conditions while also attending other special needs and social issues that affect their daily lives.
At present, our Corporation is in the process of transition not only to a new healthcare model (PCMH), but also in terms of its general structure and processes, including facility infrastructure. We will continue to invest in remodeling our facilities, purchasing new equipment, and expanding service spaces, which will be a competitive advantage in the future. These efforts will allow us to adapt to changes in the healthcare environment and to identify new opportunities that will enhance the services provided to participants and their families.
We invite you to form part of our family, “Caring for your Health”. Come join us at our clinics located in Mayaguez, Guanica, Lajas, Yauco, Maricao, Las Marias, Isabela, Cabo Rojo and San Sebastian. Be part of our evolution towards a better, high-quality healthcare system.
On behalf of our Governing Board, as well as our medical, clinical, and administrative staff, we welcome you and thank you for your support.
Dra. Tania Rodríguez, Executive Director
