Message from the Director
As Executive Director of Migrant Health Center, Western Region, Inc. (MHC, Inc.), it is my greatest pleasure to be a part of this interesting and innovative corporation, and to be a witness to the positive evolution which we have been subject to through the years. I am very grateful for our Governing Body and our personnel, who have adopted this institution as their own and are committed to achieving each one of our goals, focused on the participants and their health care, and their social and economic needs. Our main objective is to identify and be of service to those who are in need of health services and those who in some way find themselves devoid of these services.
As a certified PCMH (Patient Centered Medical Home) organization, all our services are found under one roof, focused on the needs of our patients. Furthermore, I am very proud of the diversity of our Special Projects, and of the men and women who are committed to providing a full high-quality service, free from discrimination against people, who find themselves alienated and marginalized by society. These programs include: prevention and treatment of HIV, prevention and treatment of abusive substances, mental health services for homeless people, needle and syringe exchange, and condom distribution using dispensers or vending machines. By means of these programs, we help people that suffer from these ailments, among other particular social issues that may affect their daily life.
Currently, our corporation is in the process of transitioning, not only to a new model of health care (PCMH), but also in terms of its general structure and processes, as well as of the infrastructure of the facilities. We all continue investing in the remodel of our facilities, the purchase of new equipment, and providing more space for our services, which will give us a competitive edge for the future. These efforts will allow us to adapt to the changes in the healthcare environment and to identify new opportunities that will strengthen the services we provide to our participants and their families.
We invite you to join our family, where we “Care for your health”. Come and be a part of our clinics, located in Mayagüez, Guánica, Lajas, Yauco, Maricao, Isabela and San Sebastián, and become involved in our evolution to being a better system for high-quality health.
On behalf of our Governing Body, our medical, clinical and administrative personnel, we offer you a warm welcome, and thank you for your support.
